Section 329 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 – Explained!
The provision is similar to, but more serious than, section 327 of the Code. The section requires voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The purpose of the same must be to extort money or valuable security from the sufferer or anyone interested in him, or to constrain the sufferer or anyone interested in him to do anything that is illegal or which may facilitate the commission of an offence.
The offence under this section is cognizable, non-bailable and non-compoundable, and is triable by court of session.
